Guess Who? Asif made a Boo Boo!!!

Mohammad Asif has done it once again. Just when I had started putting faith on the young fast bowler and that it was the Shoaib Akhtar influence that was spoiling the young lad, Asif has proven to me and I am sure millions of people wrong. He has proven that he can run a controversy by himself as well.

All that was asked of him
was to pack his bags (by himself), get on a plane from India to Pakistan via Dubai and join the team to a career turnaround Bangladesh tour. Just to get everything back on track after injury & controversy. Too boring, said Asif. I need more spice. Let's carry some talcum powder (so he says) in the bag and see what happens. If I get away safely, I ll try with something money-making next time.

Imagine all this coming from a player who made more in a month's cricket than he would have made in at least 5 years. He played well, he carried the razzmatazz but unfortunately got stuck in some stupid off-the-field news.

When will there come a disciplined bowler in Pakistan. Its either their own naivety or someone really after Paki bowlers by getting them into stupid controversy. It's unfortunate and let's hope that he gets out of this clean as he would have spoiled yet another potentially great career.

Aren't these guys supposed to be Ambassadors for their country? Even when a normal person travels, he is careful of the stuff he has in his bags just so he doesn't bring a bad name to himself, his family and his country. These guys are famous and get to travel the world as Ambassadors and this is what they do. Its really unfortunate how the money can go to your head and that money is never enough no matter how much you make.

That's what IPL can do and has done, easy money leads to easy loss of character. I hope somebody can mentor these guys, I really am counting on some senior guy like Mohammad Yousuf maybe to get these youngsters under his wings and set things straight.

That spoils the line-up a bit but I guess Rao Iftikhar has another chance to enter the line-up and prove his worth. There is of course Sohail Khan who is replacing Asif and is someone to look out for. Let's see how this develops now. Worrying times for Shoaib Malik & Geoff Lawson.
