Ronaldo's Ransom at Man Utd - Is it fair on the fan?

Christiano Ronaldo is by far the best player around the world currently and can be matched with the Ronaldinhos of the world. He has no longer a new sensation and has made his place amongst the fans and the experts. Its not only skill but also some leadership qualities that one gets to see in small instances at such a young age. He was definitely the difference this year with
a double win for Manchester United. Everything sounded good for everybody until Real Madrid made the big offer that they had made Beckham when he was on fire in the English Premier League.

Ronaldo became from a great football player to a hot commodity on the player market. It is a cycle that goes on. A young player gets into the limelight with his talent and then the money comes into the picture. Look what it did to Beckham. He could have been Hall of Fame with a few world cup wins for his country but distractions and the money led to him keeping money over what he was good at and he still remains just another great player.

Ronaldo has got the same big head and the same hairdo to some extent as well. Man Utd and Real Madrid can throw their money on the table and decide who can pay the most. Real Madrid has been able to get what they want in the recent past and I wouldn't be surprised if Ronaldo does make the move. To be honest, it makes more sense for Ronaldo than it did for Beckham to leave his home and join Real Madrid way back then.

Also to note is the 50-grand-a-week increase at Arsenal. These EPL players really become spoiled with the money around. Unfortunately, it is also a question of making hay while the sun shines. Sportsmen don't live for long. They become normal people with age and have to make the most of their health, fitness and to some extent popularity. Its a lot like actors/actresses as well. So its not fair to blame the players of being spoiled either.

The bottom line is that this is going to continue. More and more money will be thrown in at the feet of these players and they will only raise the stakes every next time. The players are also rated at what money they make hence it is a status symbol for the player itself to make more. For the average fan though, it is difficult to understand the business side of the game. They want to watch the good players playing in the league that they follow and that goes on in their country. Unfortunately, that changes every year and they player they follow may play somewhere else next year. Not too fair on the fan but if the players stay to earn less, it is not fair on them. The fans have to realize that it is their bread and butter.

  3. I disagree here , its oppurtunity for him to get exposed to the highest level of football and huge money ..so be it ..

Yes he may not get the fame and limelight what EPL has given but its his decision and his mature enuf to make it

Yes as far as Fans are concerned, true fans (like me) worship clubs and not players..Loyalties will always remain with Man-U !!!!!!!!!!
