I am sure everyone is familiar with the phrase 'Life in Karachi is too busy, no time at all...' We get to hear that a lot no matter who the person is or what walk of life he is part of. In fact we use to our own advantage where the situation arises but is that really true?
I seek to question that phrase after visiting a late night valima reception on Friday. We reached at 10:30pm much late according to my standards and we entered an empty lawn. We were maybe the 4th couple to enter...It was well after 1:15am that we were able to quickly have dinner and leave and reach home by 2:00am. Apparently the night before, the shadi which we did not attent took an hour longer than this. Are we the same Karachiites? So busy that there is no time at all? I DONT THINK SO!!!
There is no consideration for somebody else's time. The sad thing was that this wasn't an emergency delay but rather a 'well-planned in advance' delay. Almost 4 hours were wasted which could have been only 1 or maybe 2 at the max. Everything goes untidy the next day, my young daughter's sleep schedule, our own sleep schedule and a tired and lousy saturday. Chores left unattended and postponed to next saturday and what not? No wonder our country and people arent progressing...we waste too much....and time is not the only thing...
WASTE NOT ...WANT NOT....is the thought for today....
hadi functions are really pathetic in Karachi!
