Usain Bolt - Like Lightening on the Tracks

Now you see him, now you don't. That is how Usain Bolt has been on the Beijing Tracks this Olympics. After the 100m dazzling performance, he lives up to his expectations by breaking the 200m record as well. He has been nothing short of his name, the "Bolt" of lightening.

He has achieved what only one other person in
Olympic history has done. Win GOLD in 100m and 200m sprint in the same Olympic games. The other person being Carl Lewis in 1984 games held at Los Angeles. To add a bigger star on the feat was that both were new WORLD RECORDS. This is where he is the first to achieve such a feat. Where the 100m for simply amazing breaking his previous record of 9.72 seconds where Bolt clocked 9.69 seconds , the 200m was no less.

Beating Michael Johnson's 19.32 seconds set at Atlanta 1994 by 2 milliseconds to set the new record at 19.30 seconds.

The amazing thing was that he almost jogged in the end of 100m and one got the impression that he could have done it even faster than the record he set. He is the leading sprinter in the world now holding both records at the same time which was only achieved by his fellow Jamaican Donald Quarrie in the 1970s.

Of course with such feats come running the drug tests and the cynical media and people. Bolt has and will get his fair share of negative fame. I heard that he has already given 39 tests to date and obviously will do more to prove his record is fair and the medals are deserved.

Such is the world of sport these days. Take any sport, cricket, baseball, athletics, swimming, cycling, weightlifting. Almost every sport is linked to the world doping committee or some thing of the sort and they keep a tight check on things. With the advancement in this technology it is becoming more difficult for athletes as well.

This Olympics however would be remembered for these two great Olympians. Usain Bolt & Michael Phelps. Lets hope nothing negative comes out from the speculation that people have and for once this can be accepted by everybody that it is possible to beat records without anything kind performance enhancing drugs.
