Michael Phelps. I am lost for words. 8 Gold Medals in a single Olympic Games. 7 world records. 1 Olympic record. All his personal bests. WOW!!!
I do watch the Olympics but never really remembered any names, not of any swimmers anyway other than Ian Thorpe. But this name is going to stay for a while in my books.
When he got 6 gold at Athens in 2004, just one short of Mark Spitz who held the record of 7 in a single games in Munich, 1972, people thought that was the best he could do. In fact even this year the great long distance swimmer Grant Hackett had predicted, he could only equal his performance of Athens. Obviously Phelps had other ideas.
When the US team won the 4x400 medley, Phelps had racked up an amazing 8 Gold medals in the same Olympics. A historic moment and probably a record which is bound to stay for many many years to come. He was announced as the greatest Olympian of all time and with a tender age of 23, I wonder what else is in store for the future.
More than phelps... the sprint from Bolt was crazier... something really fishy indeed... jogs to the finish huh :) with a world record time.
ReplyDelete@scorpicity - you noticed the jog too? Absolutely...big time fishy...i saw him in the heats easily touches 9.9 with a jog and a big 0.13 record differential...to get a new record....
