There is much more to the above which I have posted on the video on youtube.
The story shown in the video is more about worldly love, making it more commercial because that is what sells. The story is of a son of a zameendaar (landlord) who returns from his studies from out of town and comes back to his village and of course the "Gaon ki Gori". This particular girl from the village is also a childhood friend who he does not recognize immediately because she has grown up. Of course the girl has been waiting all her life for him to come back and recognizes him at the first outlook. She teases him throughout the video eventually making him realize that this is the same girl he used to play with when young. There is of course the filmy element of a necklace that the guy gave as a child to her and which she saved till now. The video ends with her showing it back to him, completing the happy ending.
Of course the story could have continued further considering the girl is the daughter of a haari (farmer). The jori (pair) is almost impossible to end up together eventually. But the good news is that there was no second part saving both me and the couple in the video from any further misery hehehe...
The song of course is a tribute to Abida Parveen & Baba Bulley Shah. Re-sung by Mehar Seemi. If you want to listen to Abida Parveen singing this live in a Sufi-er Version, I won't dissapoint you just because you are so loyal and keep coming to read to my posts no matter how much gap there is in the middle of two posts. You have no idea how much that means. Here you go,
I had written about a little excerpt from the same Sufi poetry in an older blogpost as well which can be accessed through the link. I am sure its quite obvious by now that there is a strong influence of sufi poetry and music in my life. It always brings me a little closer and back to the true love of Allah and more strength to my Faith.
Anyway, I have also created my youtube account - UTPirzada as well where I plan to share some good stuff and make it available here through the blog as well. Enjoy...!!!
LOL! Awesome dude! You didn't get any more offers after this??
ReplyDeleteI envy you man, the girl is kinda cute :)
Dude, I like the expression on your face when you arrive at the haveli or whatever, and the servants are welcoming you. It's so... wadayrana!
ReplyDeleteGood work man!! Why don't you do a post about the video shooting/recording experience some time? :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, was that weapon real, and did you really fire it?!
@raza - she is...for sure...it took a long time before my wife got over the final scene with the sun setting heheh...as for offers...guess what i didnt leave my number or anything...one stint is enough to tell everyone...I even did this...
ReplyDelete@saadat - Sir, a bit of wadayra blood runs through me...and it shows...
@anas - I think I will...there is so much to tell...on the whole experience...I will have to jive up some memories....the weapon is real...and I didn't really fire it...its all acting hehe...
hahahaa omG you are a celebrity and i didnt even know that :p
ReplyDeletelol, you look great :D and i loved the part where u get hit by the bare or whatever fruit it was :p

Hola!
ReplyDeleteThe first song sounds nice, like the tune! And hey, who knew uridine triphosphates act too! haha
The Qawali is a delight. I hadn't heard this one before, I have some Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Qawalis which are amazing.
Anyway, it's good you're back.. write at your convenience and don't feel pressured!
All the best to you and your family.
Tee
@mubi - one video doesn't make one a celebrity dude ehheeh...this video was shot in March 2004 i think...or was it 2005...cant remember...
ReplyDelete@Tee - I don't think u can call that a qawwali, its folk music, Abida Parveen style hehe...your UTP un-abbreviated is on the list now and linked to your blog...
so she's cute haan!?!?!
ReplyDeletebah!
I'm STILL jealous and mad at you for getting all mushy with the "cute" model!!
UTP's such a fakester, readers do you know he came back and told me there was a very old and ugly model he had to work with.. and skimmed past the details about the comfy sunset scene where she had to rest her head on his shoulder!! It almost blew my top when I watched the video on TV for the first time :P
@mayG
ReplyDeleteyup, it's called being a man. LOL :)
verrry nice.claim to fame and all! too cool...
ReplyDeletei liked that song..cudnt follow all of it but it sounded nice.:D
The song was very PTV in 1990's. :)
ReplyDeleteMayG's behind-the-scenes info is interesting, LOL.
Oh..so finally the video featuring the shikari dude is public :P
ReplyDeleteOne thing I wanted to notice specially in this video..was the "green" shirt u talked about in one of your previous blog posts abt this video :D
lol, UTP i was being sarcastic :p :$
ReplyDeleteI agree with MayG that the model is very cute indeed. :P
ReplyDeleteHowever, UTP looks younger than the model in the video. :D
BTW, thanks for posting the Abida Parveen video! I loved it!
My apologies to Mehar Seemi, but after listening to Sufiana qalaam by, say, an Abida Parveen or a Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, any one else's attempt at rendering such poetry in the musical form inevitably leads to a comparison with those two and, obviously, it is rather difficult to match up to them.
@mayg - get over it puttar...hehe...
ReplyDelete@raza - thats what i need...more MEN...thanks for backing me up...
@mandira - claim to fame? hehe...leos u know..like the spotlight...
@specs - hello..its a REMIX ok...90's PTV remix was non-existent...its MODERN hehe...
@fariha - had to wake you up from wilderness...it wasnt mine...it was put on me by the cameraman!!!
@mubi - I know...I wonder why I was so serious?
@sidhusaaheb - I knew there would be at least one person who would talk about Abida Parveen also...thanks for looking beyond the obvious hehhe...
hey mann!! this is full tharki pan man!! yar ye kaise videos mei arahey ho ada saein!! aur wo larki to dekho beti haari ki aur makeup aunty shameem jaisa.. hadd hai yar..!!
ReplyDeleteAha, an update and one along with an upload.

I saw u after 7 years n was wondering how come u r still the same ... the role suits u but not the heroen ... for ur info she is NOT cute n looks elder than u :p ... better luck next time :p
ReplyDelete@kamran - at least I m real and not a comic book character :P
ReplyDelete@knicq - needed the big bang ...it seems...
@amber - welcome to the blog...no next times...none expected anyway..hehe...
Neat! I enjoyed the song too!
ReplyDeleteOh wow... your look kool man... the pure parha likha wadara....:)
ReplyDeleteI didnt know you were of celebrity kind... hehehe
btw the song is nice to hear... i downloaded it(without your permission :p )
The new composition has no match with abida perveens classic. But nice work in video. How long ago u did that?
ReplyDelete@lisa - hehe...yeah its a catchy thing, the new one...but the soul is still with Abida Parveen
ReplyDelete@afaque - FYI, I am the parha likha wadera!!! so the director said...just act natural...I guess that worked...
@gh - BUT OF COURSE...no way near...to Abida jee...this was in 2004...
Nice work Umar! I didn't know about this.
ReplyDeleteI liked the song as well and the nice lilting melody.
May you progress and prosper in your chosen field.
@soulberry - thanks but just to clarify this was done about 4 years ago and I am not taking up modeling as a career...not as yet anyway hehhe...
ReplyDeletebut I ll take your wishes anyway and apply it to what I do currently...
very nice video...specially mirror wala scene :D
ReplyDelete@fahim - it sure was...even though I dont think everybody got what it was all about...
ReplyDeletejust to explain...she is putting KAJAL in her eyes and see that her mirror gives a reflection on her eyes and thats when she thinks about how she could pester the Wadera's son...and thats how the scene was built up...
there is so less time in a Music Video and so much to say....
Yeah dude ill say the same u look younger than the Model ;) and certainly not like a dad to me :P
ReplyDelete@Nikki - hehe...this was much before the DAD...event that changed my life...and to date my sense of dressing is kept in check by my wife...what would I do without her?
